Funeral Service for LaShonda R. Gammel, 52, of Pine Bluff, AR , formerly of Dermott, will be held at 4:00 p.m. Sunday, September 1, 2024. Service will held at New Community Church, 321 Birch Street, Pine Bluff; Rev. Patrick Lockett, Pastor. 

LaShonda was born on January 11, 1972 to Edward Graham and Margaret Gammel in Dermott, Arkansas. She attended school in the Dermott School District and graduated from Dermott High School Class of 1990. After graduation from high school, she furthered her education at the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff, graduating with a B.A. in Speech & Drama in 1997. Shon was also certified in Early Childhood Education and she was a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA). 

After graduation she worked at various places in Pine Bluff. She worked as a classroom teacher in the Pine Bluff School District, Dollarway School District, Friends, and Watson Chapel School District, and Arkansas River Education Service Cooperative. She also work with Food and Catering for the Sarasen Casino.

Shon was a member of Rose Hill Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Dr, Clarence L. Holman and she was a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority

LaShonda passed away on August 25, 2024 at University of Arkansas for Medical Science (UAMS) in Little Rock, Arkansas. She is survived by eight siblings, Lillie B. Edwards (Wayne) of Lake Village, AR, Linda Ridgel of Forest City, AR, Frank Gammel of Dermott, AR, Delma Marie Gammel of Dermott, AR, William Earl Graham (Lorettal) of Lake Village, AR, Ronnie Graham (Kimberly) of Hot Springs, AR, Donnie Graham (Sherrie) of Fort Smith, AR, and Janet Emerson (Cecil) of Dermott, AR. She is preceded in death by two brothers, Frankie Graham and Jimmy.

Visitation for family and friends will be held Saturday, August 31, 2024, from 1-5 p.m. at Dillard Funeral Home, 111 North Freeman Street, Dermott. Visitation in Pine Bluff will be held on Sunday, September 1, 2024 at New Community Church, beginning at 3:00 p.m.

Burial will take place on Monday, September 2, 2024, in Graceland Cemetery, Pine Bluff, Arkansas. Services entrusted to Dillard Funeral Home, 111 North Freeman Street, Dermott.
