Barnes, Officiating On February 1, 1985, a beautiful, dark-skinned baby girl with wavy hair was born unto Minnie Carolina Jackson and Marvin Simpson. Kantress' death came unexpectedly but peacefully on January 1, 2018 in Fort Smith AR. She was 22 years old. Kantress accepted Christ at an early age and attended Ash Street Missionary Baptist Church of Dermott. After relocating to Fort Smith, she also attended Greater Pilgrim Rest Baptist Church in Van Buren, AR where Rev. Chester Harris is pastor. Kantress' forma education began in the Dermott Public School System, and continued at the University of Fort Smith where she obtain certification in the clerical field. Kantress was joined in holy matrimony to Nathaniel Owens. She had a great personality, was very intelligent and sociable, outgoing, comical and always brightened one's day. Her Aunt Lisa said if she was having a bad day, she would call Kantress for a laugh. Kantress was preceded in death by her grandmother Nebraska Carolina, who had a great part in her rearing; her uncles Lamar Mitchell, Eugene "Hawk" Jackson and Frank Jackson. Kantress is survived by her children: Ethan Carolina, Skyler Owens and Tyler Carolina of Fort Smith; her mother Minnie Carolina Jackson of Dermott, AR; one brother Charles Robinson Jr. of Fort Smith, AR; two sisters Latosha Jones (her best friend) of Fort Worth, TX and Sarrie (Peaches) Jenkins of Fort Smith; special aunts and uncles Charley Mitchell (Bernice) of Akron, OH, Lisa McGee (Daniel) of Flora, MS, and Leodis Marshall (Helen) of Dermott, AR; special cousins Martha Jones (Owen) of Dermott and a host of cousins, relatives and friends. Kantress is gone too soon and will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
